The audience will acquire a solid understanding of how to create a game world which will not fall apart in a few days. This knowledge will be the basis for creating world in order to build a multi tiered, multi pronged franchise or just a single game world to support the game they are currently building.

Worldbuilding is the process of constructing an imaginary world, sometimes associated with a whole fictional universe. The resulting world may be called a constructed world. However creating a world has never been an easy process. Even god himself apparently needed six days to create the world. This session is for those who feel at least slightly less divine. Crytek’s resident structural narratologist Dr. Fasih Sayin will share 20 simple rules for world building. These will be condensed into 10 things one should practice and 10 things one should never do even if their life depended on it. This session will include examples from existing franchises and games actively showing why the wrong things are wrong and why the right things are right and more importantly how to break these rules if need be.
