Prof. Dr. Linda Breitlauch initially studied business economics before she graduated in film and television scriptwriting from the Film & Television Academy (HFF) in Babelsberg. In 2008 she completed her PhD about dramatic composition in computer games. In addition to working as a project manager in the export and publishing sectors she has been the creative producer of several film projects, has written film scripts and game concepts as well as scientific and expert articles, among other things. In 2007 Linda Breitlauch was appointed Europe’s first female professor of game design at the Mediadesign University of Applied Sciences. There she teaches and researches with special focus on the areas of transmedial storytelling, serious games, and dramatic composition. Furthermore, she works as an evaluator and is a consultant in the areas of media didactics and interactive storytelling. In 2011 she was nominated for European Women in Games Hall of Fame Award.

MEDIADESIGN HOCHSCHULE is a privately run, state-recognised university for design andcomputer science. At study centres in Berlin, Dusseldorf and Munich, talented young people take creative degree courses that are tailored specifically to the requirements of a rapidly developing labour market. Students graduate with a state-recognised Bachelor or Master's degree. Professors and lecturers with practical experience in the specific field, numerous practical projects with partners frombusiness, study programmes with individual supervision and close contacts in the industry guarantee the professional success of MD.H graduates. Die Mediadesign Hochschule ist eine der führenden Hochschulen für Medien und Design Deutschlands. Sie bildet in allen relevanten Medienbereichen den Nachwuchs von Morgen aus. Die Studierenden profitieren dabei von der besonderen Nähe der Mediadesign Hochschule zum Medienmarkt. Schwerpunkt ist der Bereich Informatik mit seinen Highlights, wie Spielephysik, künstliche Intelligenz oder die Erschaffung von 3D-Welten in Echtzeit. Der Bereich Design, bei dem die Studierenden unter anderem erlernen, wie Charaktere kreiert und animiert werden oder wie man den richtigen Sound zur Szenerie erzeugt, ist ebenfalls ein wesentlicher Bestandteil des Lernstoffs. Flankiert werden diese Bereiche durch Themen aus Wirtschaft und Recht. Hier wird auf typische Rechtsfragen, wie Vertragsgestaltung, Jugendschutz und Urheberrecht eingegangen sowie auf Unternehmensgründung, Marktanalyse und Branding einer Marke.
