Prior to joining the Georgia Department of Economic Development in 2000, Antje Abshoff worked as Assistant Marketing Director for the German American Chamber of Commerce in Atlanta. She was responsible for consulting German companies in all aspects of entering or expanding in the US market. With an educational background in Hotel and Restaurant management from Germany, Antje came to the US in 1993 to attend Cornell University in New York. She completed her university studies at the University of Georgia with a BBA in International Business (summa cum laude). Antje has been Managing Director of the State of Georgia Europe office since 2005 and she is responsible for all economic development efforts in Europe, attracting new European corporate investment to Georgia, as well as supporting existing European investors in their Georgia expansion plans. Antje has represented Georgia as a guest speaker at a number of prestigious US investment conferences in Europe. She also was a guest lecturer at universities in Germany. Antje is originally from Hamm, Germany and speaks German, English, and French.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) is the state’s sales and marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, aligning workforce education and training with in-demand jobs, locating new markets for Georgia products, attracting tourists to Georgia, and promoting the state as a destination for arts and location for film, music and digital entertainment projects, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development.
